What is your capacity?
“Enlarge the place of your tent, And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, And strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left, And your descendants will inherit the nations, And make the desolate cities inhabited. “Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame; For you will forget the shame of your youth, And will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore. For your Maker is your husband, The LORD of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth.” Isaiah 54:2-5 NKJV
From the above bible text, you are to do the following:
- Enlarge the place of your tent : if you increase your area of cultivation, then your harvest will be more. Any damage to one set of crops is not likely to affect the other – grounds differ. Win souls, serve in the church, serve others, do all He wants faithfully, do good, etc.
- Let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; don’t limit yourself to one thing only. Do all you can very well. No shoddy jobs. He rewards as we do our bit.
- Do not spare; don’t avoid one. For all as assigned. Nothing is beneath you. Watch out for wrong attitudes and ego
- Lengthen your cords: grow stronger, elastic and firm in Christianity. Cords are several strands of thin flexible twisted strands which can be used to bind loose things and keeps items together. by lengthening your cords, it means you will stretch your known limits and still be flexible which ensures growth in life generally. different things may characterise your lengthening – from trials to challenges and joys. recall He never said we would be without trials. He asked that we keep our focus on Him and go through the issues as they arise/occur. 1 Pet 4:12 and
- Strengthen your stakes: Stake is a thick plank used to reinforce a tree/structure and also used as boundary. This means to grow in faith. Exercise faith and your right in Christ Jesus. Be fully confident in who your Lord is. Don’t mix the world with your Christianity. Ensure you are not in between. Be hot and not lukewarm for Him. Remember, He will spew out those who are not hot for Him. Rev 3:16 “so then, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, i will vomit you out of My mouth”.
- Do not fear: Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for The Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
With the above done;
- You shall expand to the right and to the left: physical expansion! Material and all others that matter to you.
- Your descendants will inherit the nations, and make the desolate cities inhabited: you and descendants will dominate. You will acquire from material prosperity released and then own all you choose to own.
- Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed. 2 Kings 6:16 “do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them”
- Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame. Isaiah 50:7 ” for the Lord God will help me; therefore I have set My face like a flint, and I know that I will not be ashamed”.
- For you will forget the shame of your youth, You will not remember the reproach of your past occurrences anymore: every denial of the past will pale off and will stop to matter. and Is 54:4 “do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame of your youth and will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore”.
Wonder Why?
For your Maker is your husband, The LORD of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth. Isaiah 54:5
With the above understanding, you must increase your capacity to receive from Him – by increasing your capacity to give to Him. Let me ask, what is the size of your spiritual container?
Increase Your Capacity To Receive
God has many blessings in store for you! He has favor in your future like you’ve never imagined. He wants to take you places that you’ve never even dreamed. But in order for us to partake of all of these blessings, we have to increase our capacity to receive.
Think about this: if you have a one-gallon bucket, and someone has fifty gallons to give you, the problem is not with the supply. The problem is that you don’t have the capacity to receive the fifty gallons. But if you get rid of that small container and get something larger, then you will be able to receive more. It’s the same way with God. If we think we’ve reached our limits, the problem isn’t that God doesn’t have the resources or the ability; the problem is that our container is too small. We have to enlarge our vision and make room for the new things God has for us. Our attitude should be, “Yes, the economy is down, but I know God is still on the throne. I know wherever I go, His goodness and mercy follow me.”
How much of yourself, time and material things do you give Him. His word says, “give and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you” (Lk 6:38 NKJV) This scripture buttresses the fact that the measure you get is proportional to the measure you give. Start to give with the right motive and watch Him respond to you.
When you have that kind of attitude, you increase your capacity to receive. When you increase your capacity to receive, get ready to live the abundant life He has for you!
Limitation of Capacity
Your capacity grow as much as you allow it. Do away with things that will limit your spiritual capacity as recorded in:
- James 3:13-18 –
- Gal 5:19-21 – works of flesh which limits and prevents from making heaven
- Romans 1:28-32 – what ungodliness brings….an array of sins…jealousy, envy, etc
- 1 john 3:8-10 – signs of not being directed by God.
Jealously. Jealous ness
These adjectives mean resentfully or painfully desirous of another’s advantages: jealous of a friend’s success; covetous of my neighbor’s possessions; envious of their art collection.
enviousness, envy – a feeling of grudging admiration and desire to have something that is possessed by another
