Get Understanding!
“Understanding is a wellspring of life to him who has it. But the correction of fools is folly.”
Proverbs 16:22 NKJV
“Wisdom is a deep well of understanding opened up within you as a fountain of life for others, but it’s senseless to try to instruct a fool.”

As I read today’s verse, I heard an instruction: “get understanding!” It was so clear that I wrote the title before the verse. So I am certain The Lord is keen for us to know His truth. It is not enough to know something – it is pertinent to get understanding even with what you know. Knowledge abounds but application of same which is wisdom, is dependent on your understanding of the knowledge as it relates to you. You may know how someone else understands a truth but are you really aware what that knowledge is for your life? How have you been living? On the thoughts and understanding of others or on the truth as revealed by the Holy Spirit to you?
Let’s look at the benefits of understanding personally for yourself:
“Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you. Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you.””

Benefits: i) Preservation ii) keep iii) promotion iv) honour v) distinct grace vi) glory
Which of these benefits can you buy with money? Do not labour for money at the expense of your life in Christ. These benefits are the very best of what any life can aspire to; yet money won’t buy them. So why not cultivate the word and relationship with God as you live your life and still get the very best of life?
Holy Spirit, please teach me the truths my life require in Jesus name. Amen!
Action point: do not delay! Explore these truths of His Word, understand and apply them to your life henceforth!
